· To Davies Giddy [later Gilbert], scientific administrator and applied mathematician : 1 autograph letter signed ; 18 Jun 1816 (MISC 3742), thanking him for sending her the work of a young female author. · To Thomas Norton Longman, publisher : 1 autograph letter signed ; ca. 1817-1822 (MISC 2005), third person, refering to Dr. Aikin being "completely out of danger." The letter was probably written sometime following Aikin's stroke in 1817. Tipped in to William Upcott album of collected letters of eminent women. · To a "Mr. Manning" : 1 autograph letter signed ; 24 Dec. [1782] (MISC 3213), on plans for a visit by her husband to the Mannings in Yarmouth.

Anna Letitia Barbauld, née Aikin, English poet and essayist. Her first book of poems, published before her marriage, was a critical and popular success, but she came to be better known for her works on the teaching of infants. She was among the circle of radical intellectuals gathered around her publisher, Joseph Johnson, which also included the likes of Joanna Baillie, George Dyer, Maria Edgeworth, William Godwin, and Henry Crabb Robinson.
